The Paris attacks are yet another in a long line of stupid, cowardly, and ultimately futile attacks. New York, Arlington, London, Madrid, Amsterdam, Mumbai, Ottawa, Brussels, Sydney, and now Paris.
Nothing they can do will make the West give in. Nothing will stop the satire, or cartoons of Mohammed, or anything else they have trouble with. Truthfully, Islam is going in reverse while the West goes forward. All the terrorist attacks ever will do nothing to slow, halt, or reverse this trend.
The attackers did this not because they or their views are winning, but because they are losing. Winners don't resort to underhanded tactics. Losers do. It's like sports: those who can win fairly would not think to cheat, but losers think they can win by cheating. Attacking civilians who didn't do anything illegal or even really wrong don't deserve this.
Seriously, if someone takes offense at a stupid cartoon, they should speak out against it. If that doesn't work, they have to live with it. If anything, this attack was counterproductive. Before, no one outside of France had heard of that magazine, now everyone does. All this did was to anger a lot of people in really powerful, rich countries. France in particular has a good track record of intervening in Islamic countries recently. Just look at the successful French intervention in Mali not too long ago. For once, angering France was a big mistake.
Bottom line is, there is no scenario in which the terrorists can win. At best for them, the West will do nothing and nothing will change for us. At worst, we will intervene in Yemen, Syria, possibly Iraq again, this time with the blessings of the UN.
P.S. Seriously, this is getting absurd. Cartoonists murdered for silly little drawings, girls kidnapped and enslaved, attempted genocide against religious minorities... and these terrorists act like they are the victims of wrongdoing?!

Looks Like AI is taking over
While I appreciate the option to block AI art here (yes, I know some people would protest call it art), the sheer volume of it is overwhelming, and its only going to increase. And we're still in the early days of AI-generated content. While some of what we're seeing now might be part of the initial enthusiasm which comes from having a new tool to work with, the technology is only going to become more advanced, less expensive, and far more widespread as time goes by. Whether we like it or not, this is the future. For what it's worth, I won't post any AI art here, although I may use it get a reference and then draw something myself.
Favorites Search is gone
Well, this is annoying. DA claims that the search function is "expensive to maintain" somehow, and that it "wasn't being used." This makes it difficult to navigate one's favorites, as I can no longer type in a keyword to narrow down a search. And no, it's not a feature hidden behind a paywall, as I have core and it disappeared for me as well. Let's hope DA puts fav searches back and soon.
She-Hulk Stereotypes Women
For a show that's supposedly a feminist's dream, the show goes out of its way to demean women, and I don't think that was meant to be funny. It's a steaming pile of crap, and the show demeans men too, but let's focus on how the show tears down its supposed target audience, women: Jennifer (She-Hulk) is shown to be a bad driver due to being easily distracted, which is a dated sexist stereotype. She's paranoid about men, which is a stereotype about feminists dating back many decades. She's a gossip who cares way too much about other's private lives, a very old stereotype about women. She gets angry easily despite claiming to be in control of her emotions, which makes her a liar and a hypocrite, as well as a stereotype about women being emotional. She's self-involved and self-pitying, as if what she's going through is worse than what her cousin (Bruce Banner/The Hulk) has gone through, which we know to be objectively untrue, given The Hulk's history of being chased by the military
Can anyone recommend a good drawing tablet?
I'm considering getting a new tablet in the $50 - $70 range, before tax. My existing tablet is quite old and I'm not sure it works; most of my pictures are done on paper, scanned in, and inked and given color and background with a mouse. A very time-consuming and substandard way of doing things. Not looking for anything fancy or high-end, just a decent tablet with a pen that can be used for drawing.
